Hailing from the bohemian college town of Athens, Georgia,Futurebirds play laid-back country-rock with an atmospheric, psychedelic twist. The group began turning heads with the release of a self-titled EP, whose backwoods harmonies and pedal steel riffs helped earn a contract with Autumn Tone Records. With the label’s help, Futurebirds booked time at Chase Park Transduction — one of Athens’ most renowned studios, with a client list that includes R.E.M., Drive-By Truckers, and Jason Isbell — and recorded Hampton’s Lullaby. The debut album was released in August 2010, and the group issued a follow-up EP, Via Flamina, while touring in support of both releases. With The Bailey Hounds and Blackfoot Gypsies.

Cruiser, a solo project by Philadelphia native Andy States, was brought to life in the walk-in closet of a crowded inner city loft. States’ demos eventually landed in the hands of Jeremy Park, producer of Youth Lagoon’s The Year of Hibernation, who offered to produce Cruiser’s EP after hearing the songs. With its infectious melodies and beachy guitars, the Cruiser EP captures the carefree essence of the summer months. Whether enjoyed in good company or completely alone, quite simply, Cruiser is meant to make you feel good. With Faux Slang.

Whether laying his hat in Woodstock, the Appalachians, the high Arizona desert, or the canyons of Topanga over the years, Matthew O’Neill has been methodically writing, releasing and performing his own consistently engaging guitar-driven material. What sets O’Neill’s music apart is in no small part his versatile and singular guitar style, which melds elements as varied as virtuosic finger-picking,rock and roll riffs, and world music rhythms such as Colombian cumbia into an alluring alloy that can evolve seamlessly from painfully fragile passages, to plaintive solo lines, then into driving squalls.
